CLUB VOLLEYBALL

We have now entered the uncharted waters of
"Club Volleyball" what a process this has turned out
to be. Georgia has about zillion of them but for us it
was trying to pick the best option for Taylor, location
and cost. (I had NO idea how expensive sports could get)

Monday: We headed over to Cobb Atlanta Volleyball.
She heads to the courts with all the other girls, the parents
have a meeting. Option 1 your daughter will get offered a
spot that night for the team and you have call backs. Option 2
you just get a call back. Okay no pressure...WRONG...I was
so nervous. But Taylor did just fine, she got an offer the
first night for the "RED" team (much like being selected for
the "A" team).

Tuesday: Taylor went to open court night and just practiced
to help with the following days ahead.

Wednesday: Head back to Cobb Atlanta for the "call back"
and again she did great and once again the coaches approach
us an told us they really wanted Taylor. So as parents we are
so very proud and say great we will let you know what we decide.

Thursday: Now we are on to Sky Volleyball tryouts. Not to
many girls show up for this try out but some had other tryouts
that overlapped. So the girls are all doing volleyball stuff and the
parents again have a meeting. Much like Monday night they
would either make and offer for the team or just ask you to come
back. Well Taylor put on quite a show and they really liked her.
(only have 10 coaches watching you and making comments on your skills
no pressure right??????????) We are the first parents to be approached
to they want Taylor to come play for them. Then about 15 min after that
he make an announcement that is he calls your daughters number he would
like to see all of us in the other room. OH GREAT!!! Well they call her number
we head to other room and all of us find out we have a spot on the team, then
we found out she has been offered to play up with the 14 year olds. We are thrilled.....

Now we have two clubs that would like Taylor so now we have to all sit
down and figure out what would be best for her. This club volleyball is
big stuff we have make sure she is at the right place..the PRESSURE....

With all that being said, I am super impressed on how far she has come in
such a short amount of time. She never even played volleyball till this summer
at a few camps we put her in. She continues to amaze me everytime I watch her.
She is such a natural at it........

We will keep you up to date on what happens with the "club" thing. We have
to make a commitment to a club on November 11th on what we want to do. That
is the drop date on all decisions for all girls that want to play.

Update

Well once again I am a bit behind on getting everybody
up to date on what has been going on.

We are almost finished with football season, we will wrap
it up Saturday with our last game. I have to admit this
season has went by super fast(oh I am not complaining).

Now that Taylor is finished with school volleyball we are
now moving to the uncharted waters of "Club Volleyball"
Apparently it's the thing to do when the school volleyball
season is over. It's a way to the girls to keep up with your
skills. What we did not know however was how nerve
racking the whole process would be. I think I am more
stressed out over this process then she is.

Catching up

Man it has been awhile since I did a post so
I thought I would do a bit of catching up..
Taylor has completed volleyball season
Saturday was the final wrap up. The girls
had a great season and Taylor had a wonderful time.
We are still doing football with Hunter and he is
getting better and better. I am so proud of my
little man.

We have dried out from all the rain and now
the cold front has found it's way in. It's a bit
to soon for me but mother nature really does
not care about me. I don't think it got to 60 today
so you know I was NOT a happy camper about that.
but according to the weather report it should be warming
up this weekend.YEA...however the leaves are already starting
to change colors so its so pretty right now...

My baby girl is getting ready to hit the big city of NEW YORK..
she will be flying out on Thursday morning EARLY and flying
back home on Sunday afternoon. So we are busy doing
laundry(story of my life) and getting things packed..
I am so jealous she is going to NYC. She is so excited
about this trip....hope she has good weather...

Guess that is it for now..more later..

Drying out

Well thank goodness the rain has decided to give
us a rest. I have never seen anything like it.
We have not had it as bad as other places
in the error so we have been blessed.

Left the office yesterday at 3:30 to beat
the traffic. Not so much...everybody else
had the same idea. My normal commute is
about 20-25 min. Well yesterday it was
1 hr and 45 min. If you know me, you know
how much I hate to sit in traffic. So needless to
say when I got home I was OVER IT....

Taylor got out of school at 1:15 instead of 4:15
yesterday so they could get the kids home before it
got really bad here. Hunter gets off the school bus
around 2:30 we around 3:30 he was still not home.
So our wonderful neighbor left for the school to pick up
her son and Hunter. The bus never came to get the kids
from school because the roads had flooded.
It took her over and hour to get to the boys and we only
live 10 min from school!!!!!!!!!!!!! During this time Hunter
called home all freaked out about what was going on but
Rusty assured him that Sherry was on here way to get him.
So he was much better after that. Poor kids eat lunch
around 10:30ish (which I would think was brunch) but
anyways....by the time he got home he was starving....
He ate all his dinner last night.......
So the kids had no school today well the whole state was
out of school today for that fact, due to the weather.
It was a beautiful day today not a drop of rain......
Go figure.....

Water Polo

Well if you have been watching the news then you have seen or heard about all the rain that we have gotten here.

This is the most recent picture of our football field and now looks like a swimming pool. So we can not have any football practices or football games.

So maybe we could try water polo????

The Grandparent

Well my mom and dad will be coming up
this weekend so they can experience what
our CRAZY weekends are like. Taylor
has volleyball matches this weekend in
Rome, GA. Yes, Rome Ga and to boot
we found out we have to be at the school
at 8:15 AM. I did a map quest tonight and
its about 1 hour away. OH JOY
So no sleeping in......................
we will be hitting the road EARLY!
She will have about 4 matches then
we have to be at Hunters football
game at 3. So the grandparents will
be going all over the place this weekend
to keep up with the grand kids and our
activities. Hope they didn't think this
trip would be a vacation....HA HA...
We can wait to see them since it has
been awhile.
Hey mom and dad....don't forget the
bread and I promise to have the coffee
ready on Saturday morning since we will
all need it.

BIG FOOTBALL PLAY

Hunter had a great football game on
Saturday night. And of course I could
not attend since I had a house full of girl
over to Tay's party. So Rusty was
sending me text messages keeping me
up to date on how my little man was doing.
He caught a great pass that was the talk
of the game. It was for the 2 point conversion.
He was so excited!!!! I was so upset
that I had to miss his football game and
then to find out I missed his biggest play
was even worse. He plays again this weekend
and I hope I will not have to miss this game too.

We Survived It

Well we survived the weekend and what
a weekend it was. As always we were
very busy will both kids activities and
then we decided to throw in a sleepover.
My sister was a BIG help in keeping me
together. It was a LONG day. With
Taylor and her volleyball matches
that day then all the "girl" activities.
We took all the girls to get pedicures
with cute little designes on them.
Came back to the house and opened
gifts and watched movies. Taylor got
a bunch of great gift from all her little
friends.
Her BIG gift of the night came from MiMi.
She is going to NEW YORK CITY. I have
not even been to New York City yet and
here is my 13 year old going befor me.
She is busy planning all the places she would
like to visit or shop at. Watch out NYC
her come the "Parrish Girls".
I will post pics soon..so check back.
Thanks again Karen for coming to
the party and helping me out.....

Busy Weekend

Well we are gearing up for yet another packed weekend
at the Parrish House. Taylor will have her birthday party
this weekend and it's a sleep over (what have I gotten myself
into?) BUT I have back up coming. My sister is flying in
on Friday and staying the weekend to help me out and
to celebrate her Niece turning 13. (So do you feel old
sis?) LOL So far we have pedicures planned for all the
girls and if we have time catch a chick flick at the
movies.
Taylor will have 4 matches this weekend and Hunter
has a football game. Its a night game so he will not
have to spend to much time at home with a house
full of girls. Which I am sure when he is 13 he will
not mind having a house full of his sisters friends
hanging out..HAHA

So back to my sister flying in this weekend. With
her new job she has set hours now so she will not
get to fly out of Jax till late in the afternoon
putting her in Atlanta at 7. Yes, 7 on a Friday night
which means I will have to leave my house at like
5:30 and cross my fingers that I make it to the
airport at 7. But it will be worth it because I
get to spend some time with her. Now if I could
just figure out how she can get me about 4 loafs of
bread on the plane and it not get smashed I will be SET.
For those of you who do not already know, in order to stay at
our house and you are from Jax you are REQUIRED to bring
us bread in exchange for free room and board. We can
not get Merita bread here and that is the only bread
we like so we have to take advantage of people coming
that they bring us bread. I know how crazy it sounds
but when you had that your whole life its hard to change.

So with that being said, mom and dad if you are reading
this dont forget my bread when you come up next weekend.

Our Baby Girl

I can not believe that our baby girl
is 13 years old today. (Dang I am

getting old).
The years are flying by so quickly.
She has turned into such a wonderful
young lady. Each day becoming
her own person with her own thoughts
and ideas. Every day when I look at
her I feel truly blessed that we have
been given such a treasured gift.
I remember holding her for the first
time and looking into her tiny face
it was love at first sight. The years
are going by to quickly for me. My
little girl is not so little anymore in
many ways. But no matter how old
she is she will always be "Our Baby Girl"

Happy Birthday Taylor we love you!

Football Season Has Started

On Saturday Hunter had his first game
to start the season. It was a great
game and team did a really good job.

They won the game on Saturday so we
off to a good start. Hunter played the whole
game and he was worn out after the
game. He has 12 solo tackles and

3 sacks. They won 14-0.

I figured out how to work Taylor's camera I think..
Here is some videos of Hunter's jamboree game
In case you are trying to find Hunter he is #87

Volleyball Team

Here is a look at the 2009 Lady Warriors.......

What a Saturday

Saturday was jam packed with events for the kids
Taylor had a volleyball tournament this weekend
against 4 teams. I am proud to say they won 3 of the
matches. So that puts them 4 and 2 so far.
Our day started at 6:30 AM, she had to be
at the school at 7:15 for warm ups. We
wrapped up around 1:30 and then it was
off to Hunters jamboree games for the afternoon.
He had weight in at 1 with the first game starting at
2:45 (lost that game) then we had a 1 hr 30 min
break till the second game that started around 4ish
(won that game). I had to be back at the high school
at 7:30 so we could clean up the gyms from all the
tournaments that took place. I was FLAT WORN OUT
so when my head hit the pillow I was out like a light.

First Volleyball Game

Here she is serving

Protecting her net

Team Meeting

Tonight we had our first volleyball matches!
The girls did a wonderful job. They played
the best 2 out of 3 for a win. We lost the first
game but came back from behind to win
the last game. So we are 1 and 1 for the
start of the season. We are so proud of all
the girls for doing such a great job on the
first games. Taylor did a wonderful job
and played hard, she never gave up.

First match started at 5:35 and we
ended at 10. So needless to say I had
NO idea that is would last that long.
We played 2 teams tonight and this year
was the first year they have EVER
beaten one of the teams they played.
So it was quite a VICTORY.....

Volleyball Update

Taylor got her uniform today and our girl is
number "12" they did not get to pick numbers.
We also just found out she will be a starter in the
game and her position is a "setter". I am still trying
to figure out all the positions so don't ask me what a
"setter" means. I hope to have it all figured out
before the season is over. HA HA.....
First match will be on the 26th so keep your fingers
crossed that we start off the season with a WIN....
More to come so stay tuned......

Hunter

So this afternoon like always, I call the house
on my way home to make sure nobody needs
anything on my way home. Rusty tells me, "no" and
I hear Hunter in the back ground saying, "I have a surprise
and will tell you when you get home." So all the way home
I am trying to figure out what it could be.

Maybe he cleaned up his room without being told to???

Maybe he made his bed for once....(yea right)

So as I open the back door I am greated with
him wearing a BRIGHT yellow saftey patrol
belt. He had told us this weeking he was trying
out for saftey patrol and my little guy made it.
He was SO EXCITED...

Cell Phone

Background: This year Hunter got a cell phone since
Taylor and Hunter are no longer in the same school
and had they have different schedules.

So this weekend Hunter was messing around with his
cell phone and I asked him is he was calling somebody
(conversation went like this)

Mom: Hunter who are you calling?
Hunter: Nobody I am just playing with my cell phone.
Mom: Sure your not calling your girlfriend?
Hunter: I don't have a girlfriend!
Mom: Are you sure about that? Because I am going
to ask Michael if you do.
Hunter: I do not have a girlfriend!!
Mom: Would you tell me if you did?
Hunter: NO!
Mom: What do you mean you wouldn't tell me?
Hunter: Laughing......HAHA
Mom: You better tell me if you have a girl friend...
Hunter: Mom, you are my girl friend....

So I kiss his head and I turn around, walk out of the
room with my eyes filled with tears....
I know it will not always be like that...
but gosh I love that little red head....
He can always melt my heart...

Volleyball Update

The game schedule is out for volleyball and she is going to be
BUSY! When they play a game during the week they have 2 games
on that night. Her Saturday games she will play either 4 to 5 games.
Her first game will be on August 26th and the season ends the first
weekend of October. It's a short, fast season......but SO far I have counted
approx 30 games from August till October....UGH.....

Football Update

We finally have moved from 5 days of week practice to 3 days a week.
THANK GOODNESS......our season will be starting very soon. So now the
fun begins. Hunter is on a great team this year and he really likes the
coaches. He will be number 87 this year and his position will be a wide
receiver and a defensive end. He was SUPER excited about it.
The teams have a smaller number of players this year so he will get
more playing time this year.

Concession Stand Queen

Well now that we have had the first parent volleyball
meeting it looks like we will be very busy. How come
parents always have to work the darn concession stands???
So with Hunter playing football we have 2 concession stand
duties and 1 spirit booth duty this year.
Then for Taylor we also have to sign up for concession stand
duty as well. I am becoming quite a pro at the ol concession stand. I will
not however be in charge of working the cash register.....

NO THANK YOU........
I would much rather be a "runner" and get the drink and what
ever food item has been ordered. Way to much pressure in working the
cash register...

Biggest item of them all: The volleyball booster club
want the parents to work a pizza and beer booth at an Atlanta Falcon
game.

Are you kidding me????
I about fell off my chair when I found that out.
But for the love of my kids I will do it. Only if I can work the beer
machine..HA HA

Besides that's the only way I will get to see a Falcon game.
Then I found out that the booster club does get a percentage

of sales so I guess that not so bad......

Volleyball UPDATE........

Tonight was the BIG night...................
Our girl was focused and ready to show them
what she had....she told me when she was getting
out of the truck, "It was all or nothing.."
I told her to try her best that is all she can do....
SHE DID IT.........she made the team!!!!!
THE "A" TEAM.....
She will get to play on the 8th grade competitive team
(she will be the ONLY 6th grader on the team)
I can now take a big sigh of relief..HAAAAAAA
I was so nervous for her...Rusty picked her up from
practice so I had to wait for her to show up at Hunters

football practice so she could tell me what the heck
was going on.
Okay I have to admit....I did cry when she told
me she made. She wanted this so badly!!
Tomorrow night we have our first parent meeting
to see what we just got ourselves into..HAHA
To tell you the truth I wouldn't want it any other
way.....

Way to go TAYLOR we are so very proud of you!!
We love ya.....

Volleyball update

I am so happy to report that Taylor made it to the next
round. We found out late last night on the website.
So tomorrow will have another try out and we should know
on Thursday if she makes the team.
I think I am more nervous then she is..........................
I will keep you posted.... :0)

Volleyball day 3

Tonight at tryouts Taylor found out they will do first cuts
tonight. So we should find out soon if she will need to
show up for Wednesday night or not. THEN last Wednesday
we found out they have not had enough girls try for volleyball
so they may just have one team instead of two teams. She is
staying very positive about the whole thing, so keeps your fingers
and toes crossed plus a little prayer that things work out for her.
I will keep you posted for sure on what happens with that.....

First Day of School

Today was the first day of school and so far so good.
Hunter caught the bus at 7 this morning which is
a bit later then last year. He has Mrs. Ewell and we
are very excited. That is the teacher that Taylor
had last year and we really like her. Taylor got to sleep in
since her bus picks her up at 8:45. She had a great first
day. They did not get lockers so she had to carry around
all her school supplies today in her book bag. She has
7 classes that she will change classes to. Over all we
did good on the first day of school...since the kids are older
they are not so much about taking pictures for the first day
any longer. Taylor looked super cute for the first day, she
picked out her outfit a few weeks ago and did not change her
mind 1000 times....Hunter is Hunter just shorts and a t-shirt and
he is good to go. The kids had no homework but you know they

come home with 100 forms that the parents have to fill out so
WE (Rusty and I) had homework.
That is it for the first day of school...more to come I am sure...

Fun Times

The gang at the water park
kids being silly...

now being normal

Since I took a few days off prior to the kids starting
school we decided to take them to the water park
with a few friends. It was packed so I guess everybody
else had the same idea....The lines were long but the
kids had a good time. Rusty and I hung out in the lazy
river which was nice.

My baby girl is taller then me.......

Volleyball day 1

Well tonight was day one of volleyball, little did we know
we had 3 more days to go. So we will have another night
of fun this week and 2 days next week.
Oh yea...how about we are doing this in a gym with
NO AIR....and its HOT here in Atlanta. So I broke out in a
sweat just sitting and watching...it was oh so wonderful.
Enough about me, Taylor did a wonderful job tonight.
She was really working it. According to the coach we should
know something next Thursday on what team she makes.
I tried to take some pictures of Taylor at tryouts but needless to say
I need her to show me how to work her camera. So I hope to get
pictures this weekend posted so you can check her out.....more to
come so I will keep you posted!

Sunday, August 2, 2009

The fun begins

Well Hunter is in football now. We have started the not so wonderful football practices, that as of right now mean 5 days a week from 6:30 till 8:30. Once school begins (which is Aug 10th) then we will cut down to a few days a week vs. the 5 days a week. We should know in a few days which team he will be on. So far he is doing okay.....I will post pictures soon of what is going on with practice. Then we have Taylor, who will be trying out for volleyball on Monday night for middle school. She is so excited and has been practicing like crazy.....I will post pictures of her tryout next week.

They grow up so quickly......

I was going through the pictures to see what I could post of the kids and I found the cutest thing ever so I just had to share.....
Well we have been in Georgia now for a year already and man it has really flown by fast. The kids have adjusted really well and have a great group of friends. We have been very lucky!! Hunter is going to the 5th grade and Taylor will be starting middle school this year. I am okay with Hunter starting 5th grade but I am having a hard time with Taylor going to middle school. She is not my baby girl anymore once they hit middle school. She is so excited, she is already trying to figure out what she is going to wear on the first day of school and we still have 3 weeks still school starts. Hunter is so laid back he could careless....but that is a boy for ya. Taylor has been super busy this summer with all kind of sport camps. She did basketball and volleyball. I think she has finally found her calling...VOLLEYBALL. The girl ROCK and she will be trying out for the team on August 3rd. I am so proud of her....she is going to be great. Hunter is gearing back up for football and camp starts tomorrow...he is ready to get to it. He has really gotten tall the past few months. By the end of the school year he will be taller then me for sure, Taylor on the other had is already taller them me.
That is it for now..more to come later!

Not so recent pictures of us but it was the best I could find

Getting Started

Well we thought we would give this a try and see how we do with is. My sister uses it and its a great way for her to keep us up to date on how her family is doing. So I figured is she can do it so can we.
